Silence Among A Group

As I sit here with my sandalwood mask on, I can’t help but think of that day. A day that I do try to forget but its impossible, it was literally 2 days ago. The memory is still fresh. On this day I walked into one of the most nerve wrecking experiences ever, I saw him. I haven’t  seen him for almost a year and there he was. Standing across me, staring at me, observing me. It was HIM.

When you haven’t seen someone for this long, one sort of tends to forget their physical features. I don’t remember him being that short, when did he grow a beard? Shorts?God didn’t bless you with the legs young man, that smirk, those really small eyes..okay so I kinda remember a few things.

After our less than cordial greetings I sat down and began my work. Trying my level best to ignore the fact that he decided to stand across me. I could see him through my lashes. Why are you not looking away? Then as if the Lord knew, someone distracted him and for 30 minutes I was at peace. He wasn’t grilling me with those brown eyes. I breathed a sigh of relief. Finally some peace.

The distraction left and yet again, attention turned to me. Jesus Son of Mary what does this man want. Although the room was filled with other people, I felt like it was just me and him and a bright ass spotlight shinning on us. Everything was silent, the air was heavier, had time stopped? or was I about to pass out?

I refuse to look up, I may lose myself in those eyes and I’m not ready for that downward spiral. So I stare at my laptop trying to finish my term paper. It was due in like 4 weeks so its good to get a head-start.I engulf myself in my topic of concentration, hitting away at my keyboard and an hour goes by. I forgot he was there, I look up praying to the Most High that he has left. And just like that, eyes locked again. This is the time my tummy decided to start rumbling, perfect timing.

As if frustrated with me ignoring him, he slowly walks towards me. The light was hitting him in all the right places. The wind was blowing his cotton t-shirt to the side and it felt like he was walking in slow-mo. Baywatch had nothing on him.

Throughout this torture, he maintained  eye-contact, knowing all to well his eyes were my weakness. After what seemed like eternity, he stood infornt of me, in all his might and glory, he leaned over and subtly whispered…..”Miss are you ready to order?”.

Stupid term paper made me forget to order food when I sat down in my favorite coffee house. The waiter was trying to get my attention for over an hour.A beg, education will finish me NA!!!

  1. Abeg. I need to meet this waiter πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ that eye contact session was too long. It got me hearing “Hello” in the background as I was reading it. He might as well have just given you the receipt after you devoured him with your eyes πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

You better have slayed that term paper though! You had enough motivation after that πŸ˜‚
