Special thanks to my girl Amal for suggesting the topic a very long while ago.
Let’s face it, University isn’t what we expected. I personally was sold on the idea of freedom, fun, meeting new people all that BS. Guess what..i found none of that..except the meeting of the new people part.
1. ASSIGNMENTS/TERM PAPERS/QUIZZES.
I get it, i get it, as a lecturer you wanna make sure your students are getting the course concepts…but God damn that doesn’t mean you set 10 quizzes,6 assignments and assign a 30 page term paper. Fam, i get what the course is about, i may look like i don’t, but i know what is happening… Take it easy fam…come slowly.
I was so ready to meet new people. I was hella excited….my uni was supposed to be the most lit campus… NOT!! Yap i met new people and now some of them irritate me to the core. Pretenders, haters, random girls who think i want their men, random boys who i have turned down, random people who don’t like my face, random people who dont like my friends. The icing on the cake is..lets Kenyanise that…the blueband on the SupaLoaf (lame joke, i know) is that i have to share classes with these people. Yaaay, fun.
This will seem far fetched but yes, University is full of drama. Don’t get me wrong, i love me some telenovela mixed with a hint of TRHWOA(The Real Houswives Of Atlanta) action but having to deal with it on a daily..is a bit too much.
Where does all the drama begin? Snapchat, a post on IG…my all time favourite is why so and so were texting or seen talking.Lord in the heavens. It’s ridiculous actually. I’ve shut down a lot of drama(that wasn’t caused by me shockingly)
Let’s see what next week has to offer..i wonder who is pissed off at me now or who thinks I want their man. LOL!! Bless you child.
4. LONG-ASS CLASSES
Why should a class run for 1 hr 40 mins and others 3 hours.. Why?.. Sincerely why? During that time, one could be half way to Naivasha…One could be have watched 3 episodes of Jane The Virgin..shiit one could have reached Mombasa and had breakfast. But we are in class…getting an education. Can you really blame me for falling asleep in most classes..especially 9 am’s.And those mid-class dreams be hella lit.
5.DAMN ALARMS AND DEADLINES
I’m the queen of procrastination. I’ve really tried to change(NoT).. Once i get an assignment, i set a remainder on my calendar.. 2 days before the due date. By the fact that im able to complete it all, just shows i deserve a medal…at least.
Now when that damn alarm rings in the morning, startling me cause my smart ass always has the volume on high. I sit there looking at the ceiling and wondering if i really need to go to uni…if i really need to take that shower(Nairobi has no water and its cold)or i should just soak myself in deodarant like some people who I have left to prosper.
I may complain but its not so bad…I’ve finished a year so i got this.
P.s. my uni lacks eye-candy…Lord that school is so dry its disrespectful to the female kind. On some rare ocassions, The good Lord blesses me with a beautiful human in my classes..you know some motivation to actually show up. Other than that..DRY, KALAHARI (as my brother likes to say!)
